Jeep Gladiator (JT), that's what the new FCA Group pick-up will be called

We have talked long and hard about the return of Jeep to the segment of the pick up's . It is true that this market niche does not bring together overwhelming sales, but it is beginning to be vital. Proof of this is that firms that had never been present, are already present. For this reason, and taking advantage of the fact that the new Wrangler has just arrived on the market, they have launched to create the Jeep Gladiator , not Scrambler .

Yes yes, you read correctly, Jeep Gladiator . Until a few days ago we thought that the new pick up of Jeep would have by last name Scrambler . However, thanks to the guys from Jeep Scrambler Forum we have learned that the FCA Group's computer experts have made a terrible mistake. When they have updated their website, they have included the Jeep Gladiator among their new models and they, quick and swift, captured the fault.

Why would they have changed their name?

The reasons why they would have changed from commercial name are not very clear. While there are two that charge special interest and a third of minor importance. At first, remember that in the decade of 60 last century, Jeep used this name for its first pick up . Secondly, that in the year 2005 presented a pick up, called Gladiator, based on the previous Wrangler.

The third, and minor, of the reasons why they would have changed their name has to do with the incompatibility of use. The Volkswagen Group has the Scrambler name registered for its motorcycle brand Ducati . Therefore, and to avoid a possible lawsuit, those responsible for the FCA Group would have decided that their pick-up should be called Gladiator .

What could we expect from the Jeep Gladiator?

In the image published by the Jeep Scrambler Forum guys there is something else. Apparently, the Jeep Gladiator will have three versions, at least in its home market. They will be called Sport, Overland and Rubicon and they are all in the manufacturer's range. However, the Overland termination is not in the Wrangler range, so it could be destined for some special preparation.

All in all, it will be in the imminent Auto Show from Los Angeles when we will officially meet the new Jeep Gladiator pick up .
